The First Six:
Community Lifesaver Training

to attend our The First Six Community Lifesaver Training,
which is open to adults and minors (12-17 years old)
accompanied by an adult. Register at cityofhenderson.
com/fire. Classes are held at the Henderson Fire Training
Center, 401 Parkson Rd. The first six minutes are crucial in
an emergency. The First Six Community Lifesaver Training
can provide you the skills to help save a life, including:
With 70% of out-of-hospital cardiac arrests happening
at home, you could be the person performing lifesaving
CPR on a family member or neighbor. The American
Heart Association now recommends hands-only
CPR using only chest compressions, which has been
shown to be as effective as CPR with mouth-to-mouth
resuscitation performed prior to arrival of emergency
responders for adults experiencing cardiac arrest.
Hands-only CPR does not require certification to
learn or perform. Anyone interested in obtaining CPR
certification should consider becoming a LifeLift
Member. See this page for information on the LifeLift
Membership program or visit cityofhenderson.com/fire.
Emergency Bleeding Control
A person with significant bleeding can die within
five minutes. It is vital to stop blood loss quickly
before emergency responders arrive. The Community
Lifesaver class includes training on emergency
bleeding control using direct pressure and how and
when to use a tourniquet.
Henderson Fire PulsePoint App
The PulsePoint app allows anyone to connect with
the Henderson Fire Department to follow active
emergency calls and receive important news and
information. Users can also choose to be notified when
a person in cardiac arrest is close to their location,
allowing them to respond and provide lifesaving CPR
until emergency responders arrive. The PulsePoint app
is available for free download on Apple and Android.
